Boredom during long months of post-college job searching lead me to experiment with screen printing. And through this hobby I created Hellvetica, a simple cheeky pun on the legendary Swiss typeface Helvetica. Friends created demand for prints so I could sustain rent during my times of unemployment; I created buttons to give out when I go to concerts and music shows to promote myself. I do everything from home, and I don't have a particularly interesting set up since I live in an small old apartment. Old shoeboxes and large surfaces work well enough (I used my computer desk).
I also finally ordered some stickers; I find it incredibly satisfying to be able to hold a physical product in your hand. This really convinces me that I still love print even though my career trajectory is directing me to the digital product path. I'm not sure if this is a personal brand, or a future clothing brand that I want to develop further. Definitely a fun hobby to have around!
